Sunshine Blogger Award

I was nominated by Fiona at A Girl Between the Pages for the Sunshine Blogger Award! Thanks for nominating me!

"The whole idea of the Sunshine Award is that you nominate bloggers who put a little sunshine in your day, who are positive, creative, and inspiring."
The Rules:
1. Answer the 11 questions provided for you.
2. Nominate other wonderful bloggers and ask them 11 questions.

The Questions:
1. Favourite time and place to read?

I like reading in the afternoon, usually indoors in my room, with the sun peeking through my curtains. It's a really nice setting to relax, I'm awake enough to read, and the sun isn't blinding me thanks to my curtains filtering it!

2. What makes a day perfect for you?

The best days are the ones where I get to hang out with, or at least speak with, my boyfriend. Spending a day with him, going to the coffee shop, watching a movie, cuddling....that is what makes a day perfect for me.

3. When buying books, do you prefer going into a bookstore or ordering online?

That depends. I love going into bookstores and being surrounded by shelves and shelves of books. I find it very calming. However, the price of books is often reduced when you order it online. So either is OK for me, I don't really have a preference, it just depends on the circumstances.

4. What's the most current book you're reading? How do you like it so far?

I am currently reading Easy by Tammara Webber.   I like it so far, I'm not too far into it though so I can't really say much about it yet.

5. Reading inside or outside?

Inside. I get anxious around bugs, which are generally outside, and I'm usually OK if I can see where they are, but when I'm reading I can't focus on that, and my anxiety takes over so I can't focus on the book....Reading inside is the best for me.

6. What's your favourite genre? Least favourite genre? Why?

My favourites include YA, Erotica, and Romance. I also really enjoy Mystery. I'm not a big fan of Sci-Fi but I'm open to trying books which fall into this genre. I can't stand religious fiction and non-fiction, with the exception of Pagan-centered books.

7. Do you ever lend books out to friends?

Yes, I do!

8. Most recent blog post? What was it about?

I recently posted a 'beautiful covers of the day' featuring the Fins series by Tera Lynn Childs. It is about the book covers which catch my eye!

9. What do you use to blog? (Laptop, phone, computer, etc.)

I use my tablet, and now that I have a laptop I am starting to use that as well.

10. Most anticipated book?

I recently ordered Oblivion and now I'm waiting for that one! I also can't wait to get a copy of Demon Road...I've been anticipating this book for a while.

11. Would you rather have 1 book for an 18 hour flight, or an e-reader with numerous books on it, but with only 5% battery?

Definitely 1 book for the whole flight. At least if I finish it, I can flip through it again....with the e-reader, it's dead when it's dead!

Thank you Fiona @ A Girl Between The Pages for nominating me for this award!

You can find the original post at Edge of Night

How my blog started:

I have always been an avid reader. Reading is one of my favourite hobbies and I read so many books.....and I wanted something to show for it. I wanted to do more than rate books on Goodreads, I wanted to share my thoughts on books, book covers and themes with others. Originally I had made this blog through tumblr, but then I found the Google blogger platform and was pleased to discover that it suited me much better.

Advice:

- (Specifically for book blogs) Do more than just write book reviews. Participate in features found on other blogs (always giving them credit) and/or make your own features (like my Beautiful Covers feature).

- Comment back when somebody comments on your posts. Even if it's just a thank you and a smiley face, always reply to show your appreciation.

Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award

Thank you so much aeriko001 @ The Reading Armchair for nominating me for this award!

The rules for this award are:
-thank the blogger who nominated you, linking back to their site.
-put the award logo on your blog.
-answer the ten questions sent to you.
-make up ten new questions for your nominees to answer.
-Nominate ten blogs.

Questions from The Reading Armchair:

1) Which book do you anticipate the most in 2015?

Oblivion by Kelly Creagh and Demon Road by Derek Landy are two books I can't wait to get a hold of.

2) Which is your favourite place to read?

My bed. It's super comfy and that's where I do most of my reading.

3) What type of characters are you more inclined to like?

I love goth/punk characters and I have loved every goth/punk character I have ever read about. I also really like characters who do amazing things for their lovers, for example like in New Moon when Bella rescued Edward from the Volturi.

4) Which is the worst genre for you?

I'd have to say religious books (with the exception of Pagan books) and hardcore Sci-Fi.

5) If you wrote a novel, what would it be called?

I am currently writing a novel and the working title is 'The Caged Prince'.

6) How would your ideal book cover be like?

If we're talking for the book I am writing, I'd say forest in the background, maybe with a lake. The background would be super blurry and darkened though, like looking through a shadowy window. There would be a cage in the middle of the cover with a boy sitting in it, turned away from the camera. The font for the title would be either very elegant or look like the letters were made of scratches. If we're talking general book covers, I'd say anything with gothic imagery.

7) Which standalone novel do you believe deserves a sequel?

Stolen by Lucy Christopher deserves a sequel for sure.

8) Which novel/book series would you like to be adapted to graphic novel(s)?

Skulduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy 1000%. That must happen.

9) What was your most recent book purchase?

Just bought Hourglass by Claudia Gray.

10) Which was the book that made you emotional the most?

There have been a few. I remember finishing Stolen by Lucy Christopher at three in the morning and crying until sunrise. The Forbidden Game series by L.J Smith made me cry as well. The Faceless Ones by Derek Landy made me shed some tears at the end too. (Lots of crying, as you can tell).  Colters' Woman by Maya Banks was quite intense as well. I've gotten super emotional for a lot of books. I can't list them all, it'd take up so much time!

My questions to my nominees are:

1) Do you prefer ebooks or printed books?

2) What is the longest series you have ever read the whole way through?

3) Which book would you like to see as a movie?

4) Who is your favourite author(s)?

5) What is the oldest book you have ever read?

6) If you could only read and reread one book for the rest of your life, what book would it be?

7) Vampires or werewolves or both or neither?

8) How many books, both printed and ebooks, do you own in total?

9) Which book played with your emotions the most?

10) Do you love a book that everyone else hates?

The Book Fangirling Blog Award

So I have been nominated for The Book Fangirling Blog Award at The Reading Armchair! (An awesome blog...you should check it out!)

The rules:
- Create a post to accept your award.
- Add the blog award button into your post and put it on the side of your blog as a widget.
- Answer the questions I have above.
- Nominate between 5-10 book bloggers who you think also deserve this award.
- Come up with your own 5 questions for your nominees.
- Link me to your post so I can see your answers.

aeriko001's questions:

1) How did you come up with the name of your blog?

I came up with this name very easily, back when I was only blogging on tumblr (this blog was originally going to just be a tumblr blog, then I discovered google+). The name just popped into my head as I was looking at other book blogs. Literally, I didn't even have to think about it. I wondered about this name for a while, if this was really the best name for my blog.....then I decided that it reflected the theme of my blog well enough and that it could be taken as a bit snarky or dramatic too (a twist on the often dramatically muttered phrase,  "for the love of god"). Then, it was final!

2) Do you really like a book that everybody else hates?

There have been a few instances where I have enjoyed a book which either had extreme hate alongside extreme fans, or that my friends simply didn't enjoy like I did.

Fifty Shades of Grey would be an example of instance number one.  I quite enjoyed it (and the film as well) and there are many who absolutely hate it. I was even harassed and bullied on tumblr for a while because I like it!

Twilight is another, less intense version of my experiences with Fifty Shades of Grey. I love Twilight, both the book and the movie, but I constantly see the series being bashed, especially online. ( I even wrote an article for school about it).

The last book I can think of is on a smaller scale. Nevermore (by Kelly Creagh) is one of my favourite books and I recommended it to a friend. While I absolutely fangirl over it (I've read it 5 times...) she absolutely hated it.

3) For which author you're a complete fangirl?

Derek Landy, author of the Skulduggery Pleasant series for sure, also Kelly Creagh, the author of the Nevermore trilogy. I fangirl over lots of authors but these two are by far the ones I go the craziest over.

4) Which book you can't wait to be published?

Oblivion by Kelly Creagh, the last book in the Nevermore trilogy. Also, Derek Landy's new book Demon Road looks AMAZING!

5) Which book would you reread any time?

Nevermore by Kelly Creagh and the Skulduggery Pleasant series by Derek Landy are books which I have, and would, continue to reread.

My Nominees:

AJ @ ClairBooks

Sugar and Snark @  Sugar & Snark

My questions to my nominees....

1)  How many printed books do you own?

2) Which book do you have a love-hate relationship with?

3) What is the strangest/most unique book you have ever read, and why?

4) What is your favourite book genre?

5) What is the longest book you have ever read, and how many pages was it?
