Beautiful Cover of the Day

Hey everyone. I haven't done one of these in a while! But there are so many beautiful book covers I want to share....

Today I am featuring Gravemaidens!

44291755

I like this cover because all of the elements work together to create a beautiful, striking image. I love the colour scheme, it is interesting because I tend to prefer darker covers but I think the lighter colours work so well here. I like that the colours are fairly faded/toned down except for the bright, bold blue in the middle of the jar/bottle. It really captures my attention.

I love the font of the title, and the positioning. The slight curve of the letters mirrors or parallels the slant on the top of the bottle/jar, but it isn't too curved.

The words "beauty is a sacrifice" sound ominous and draw me in so much! I also like how the author's name is prominently displayed, but it does not overwhelm the cover image (as I have seen in some covers).

What are your thoughts on this book cover?

Beautiful Book Covers

Today I want to talk about some more beautiful book covers! I am featuring a trilogy with covers I love!

An Echo of Things to Come (The Licanius Trilogy, #2)

I love these covers for a lot of reasons. I think they're just so pleasing to the eye, but what I really love about them is the colour scheme. I love the mostly grey scale colours with a big pop of orange, blue, or red. It makes them stick out from other books to me, and it is simple enough, but not boring. It is interesting, but not overwhelming either.

Beautiful Cover of the Day!

I haven't done one of these in a while. There are so many beautiful book covers that I have to get sharing them again.

Also sorry I haven't been posting very frequently....I just finished a major essay and I have tons of readings for school.

Anyways, today's beautiful cover is Outrun the Moon

Outrun the Moon

San Francisco, 1906: Fifteen-year-old Mercy Wong is determined to break from the poverty in Chinatown, and an education at St. Clare’s School for Girls is her best hope. Although St. Clare’s is off-limits to all but the wealthiest white girls, Mercy gains admittance through a mix of cunning and a little bribery, only to discover that getting in was the easiest part. Not to be undone by a bunch of spoiled heiresses, Mercy stands strong—until disaster strikes.

On April 18, a historic earthquake rocks San Francisco, destroying Mercy’s home and school. With martial law in effect, she is forced to wait with her classmates for their families in a temporary park encampment. Though fires might rage, and the city may be in shambles, Mercy can’t sit by while they wait for the army to bring help—she still has the “bossy” cheeks that mark her as someone who gets things done. But what can one teenage girl do to heal so many suffering in her broken city?

Description from Goodreads

First off, I love the colours. There's just something about blue and red together that I've always loved. I also just love the images on the cover! I like the font used for the title, especially the 'o'.

Beautiful Cover of the Day

I have not posted about the lovely covers I come across on Goodreads for a long time, and I recently came across one that I think is amazing and I'm super hyped for the book to be released, so I thought I'd post about it! I hope you don't mind my inconsistency on here for the last while, there's been so much schoolwork!

Anyways, today's beautiful cover belongs to Mask of Shadows

Mask of Shadows (Untitled, #1)

From Goodreads

Perfect for fantasy fans of Sarah J. Maas and Leigh Bardugo, the first book in this new duology features a compelling gender fluid main character, impressive worldbuilding, and fast-paced action.

Sallot Leon is a thief, and a good one at that. But gender fluid Sal wants nothing more than to escape the drudgery of life as a highway robber and get closer to the upper-class―and the nobles who destroyed their home.

When Sal steals a flyer for an audition to become a member of The Left Hand―the Queen's personal assassins, named after the rings she wears―Sal jumps at the chance to infiltrate the court and get revenge.

But the audition is a fight to the death filled with clever circus acrobats, lethal apothecaries, and vicious ex-soldiers. A childhood as a common criminal hardly prepared Sal for the trials. And as Sal succeeds in the competition, and wins the heart of Elise, an intriguing scribe at court, they start to dream of a new life and a different future, but one that Sal can have only if they survive.

Just look at that cover. It's freakin' awesome! It's gorgeous!

And the main character is genderfluid! Finally more genderfluid people, I am so excited. This sounds so awesome, I can't wait.

Beautiful Cover(s) of the Day!

Traitor Angels by Anne Blankman is the featured book on today's beautiful covers! I haven't read the actual book, but I am intrigued by the cover and had to share.

The colour scheme really catches my eye, I love the contrasting and complementing shades blended together. The font of the title is just the perfect amount of fancy and the colours and effects used on the title give it the feeling that maybe it's meant to resemble something like ink.

The black lines are a nice touch, they fill up cover space in a way that is tasteful and artistic. While this cover is fairly simple, I find it stunning!

Beautiful Cover(s) of the Day!

The Iron King by Julie Kagawa was the first YA book that I ever read containing fairies. The story and writing absolutely blew my mind, along with the beautiful covers on each of the 4 books. I love the designs along the edges, the way the colours complement each other, and the close, but not too close, shots of the models.

The blurb:

"Meghan Chase has a secret destiny; one she could never have imagined.

Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school or at home.

When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she's known is about to change.

But she could never have guessed the truth - that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she'll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil, no faery creature dare face; and to find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart"

Beautiful Cover(s) of the Day!

Today I am featuring the Théâtre Illuminata trilogy by Lisa Mantchev. I really love the covers of these books, I find them to be unique and eye-catching. The colour schemes are perfect and, as is the case with many books, the covers are what drew me to the books in the first place. I think all three are absolutely gorgeous but I must say that if I had to pick, I'd say the second cover, Perchance to Dream, is my favourite.

The blurb:

"All her world's a stage.

Bertie Shakespeare Smith is not an actress, yet she lives in a theater.

She's not an orphan, but she has no parents.

She knows every part, but she has no lines of her own.

That is, until now.

Enter Stage Right

NATE. Dashing pirate. Will do anything to protect Bertie.

COBWEB, MOTH, MUSTARD SEED, and PEASEBLOSSOM. Four tiny and incredibly annoying fairies. BERTIE'S sidekicks.

ARIEL. Seductive air spirit and Bertie's weakness. The symbol of impending doom.

BERTIE. Our heroine.

Welcome to the Théâtre Illuminata, where the actors of every play ever written can be found behind the curtain. They were born to play their parts, and are bound to the Théâtre by The Book--an ancient and magical tome of scripts. Bertie is not one of them, but they are her family--and she is about to lose them all and the only home she has ever known.

Lisa Mantchev has written a debut novel that is dramatic, romantic, and witty, with an irresistible and irreverent cast of characters who are sure to enchant the audience.

Beautiful Cover(s) of the Day!

The Fins series by Tera Lynn Childs has beautiful covers with gorgeous models and a mesmerizing colour scheme. When I saw these books, with their lovely contrasting and complementing colours and intriguing descriptions...I had to add them to my to-read shelf.

The blurb:

"Seventeen-year-old Lily, half-mermaid and half-human, has been living on land and attending high school, where she develops a crush on a boy but is afraid to tell him of her true destiny as the ruler of the undersea kingdom of Thalassinia."

Beautiful Cover(s) of the Day!

Today I have chosen to feature the covers of the Soul Screamers omnibus volumes 1 to 4 by Rachel Vincent. I really like when the covers in a series are all similarly designed, with the biggest change the colours. This describes the covers of this series well. Gorgeous dresses, a gorgeous model, and just gorgeous overall, I couldn't resist buying volume 1 when I saw it in store.

The blurb:

" She doesn't see dead people. She senses when someone near her is about to die. And when that happens, a force beyond her control compels her to scream bloody murder. Literally.

Kaylee just wants to enjoy having caught the attention of the hottest guy in school. But a normal date is hard to come by when Nash seems to know more about her need to scream than she does. And when classmates start dropping dead for no apparent reason, only Kaylee knows who'll be next."

Beautiful Cover(s) of the Day

Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire has a stunning cover; the blue, white and black colour scheme, the gorgeous and intriguing imagery of a butterfly trapped within a jar. As for Walking Disaster, I love how the butterfly is half real, and half tattoo. These are two covers which I feel perfectly complement the other, and I adore the usage of the butterfly on both of them.

The Dark Divine series by Bree Despain has dark, simple covers with a pale model and a burst of colour, provided by the mysterious and beautiful scarf-like fabric wrapped around the model. They are sure to catch your eye when displayed in the bookstore; unique, appealing and intriguing, these covers are simple yet elegant.

The blurb:
"Grace Divine, daughter of the local pastor, always knew something terrible happened the night Daniel Kalbi disappeared--the night she found her brother Jude collapsed on the porch, covered in his own blood--but she has no idea what a truly monstrous secret that night held.

The memories her family has tried to bury resurface when Daniel returns, three years later, and enrolls in Grace and Jude's high school. Despite promising Jude she'll stay away, Grace cannot deny her attraction to Daniel's shocking artistic abilities, his way of getting her to look at the world from new angles, and the strange, hungry glint in his eyes.

The closer Grace gets to Daniel, the more she jeopardizes her life, as her actions stir resentment in Jude and drive him to embrace the ancient evil Daniel unleashed that horrific night. Grace must discover the truth behind the boy's dark secret...and the cure that can save the ones she loves. But she may have to lay down the ultimate sacrifice to do it--her soul."

Beautiful Cover(s) of the Day!

I remember the first time I saw Angelfire by Courtney Allison Moulton at the bookstore. I was drawn in by the cover immediately and with an intriguing synopsis, it found its way onto my to-read list. While I may not have attained my own copy as of yet, I certainly hope to someday!

Each of the covers in this series remain gothic but play with colours and tones in a way that is pleasing to the eye. I also get a badass heroine type vibe from the way the model is posing, and from her outfits and weapons.

 The blurb:

"First there are nightmares.
Every night Ellie is haunted by terrifying dreams of monstrous creatures that are hunting her, killing her.

Then come the memories.
When Ellie meets Will, she feels on the verge of remembering something just beyond her grasp. His attention is intense and romantic, and Ellie feels like her soul has known him for centuries. On her seventeenth birthday, on a dark street at midnight, Will awakens Ellie's power, and she knows that she can fight the creatures that stalk her in the grim darkness. Only Will holds the key to Ellie's memories, whole lifetimes of them, and when she looks at him, she can no longer pretend anything was just a dream.

Now she must hunt.
Ellie has power that no one can match, and her role is to hunt and kill the reapers that prey on human souls. But in order to survive the dangerous and ancient battle of the angels and the Fallen, she must also hunt for the secrets of her past lives and truths that may be too frightening to remember."

Book Haul

I love to show off my book collection. These are the ones I bought in my last two shopping sprees. Admittedly, it was challenging finding space to store them, but that won't stop me from buying books like I'm stocking up for the apocalypse!

Beautiful Covers of the Day!

The Kissed by an Angel series by Elizabeth Chandler has what I consider to be an example of perfect book covers. With a plain black background, the colourful flowers catch your eye and are quite intensified through their contrast to the background. Guaranteed to draw readers in, they are nothing less than absolutely gorgeous!

The blurb:

"An angelic romantic suspense trilogy in one volume!

"Kissed by an Angel": Ivy and Tristan have the love of a lifetime--until Tristan dies in a car accident. Now Tristan returns as an angel, but Ivy is unable to feel his presence.

"The Power of Love": Tristan has learned that the person responsible for the car crash is after Ivy. Can he cross the boundaries of life and death to warn Ivy that she is in trouble?

"Soulmates": Tristan must rescue Ivy, but if he does so his mission will be finished and he will have to leave his true love forever."

L.J Smith is famous for writing the Vampire Diaries books. The Night World novels are another one of her captivating series, 10 books in total, now compiled into three omnibus books and one yet to be released. Their covers are undeniably intriguing with their gothic edge and simple colour schemes. I find that book series with covers such as these, a different colour scheme for every book, tend to catch my eye easily and side by side the covers tend to compliment each other.

The blurb

The Matched Trilogy by Ally Condie has some of the simplest yet most visually appealing covers in YA dystopian fiction. The usage of simple colour schemes paired with the light background make them sure to stand out in the bookstore!

Beautiful Cover(s) of the Day!

The Winter trilogy by Ruth Warburton has some of the undeniably most beautiful young adult book covers I have ever seen. The colours contrast perfectly and draw the eye to it, making it sure to stand out to readers. I haven't read the first one yet but it is on my shelf, partially thanks to the lovely cover that drew me in.

The blurb

"The first in a taut supernatural trilogy filled with action, suspense, witchcraft, and complicated romance

Anna Winterson doesn't know she's a witch and would probably mock you for believing in magic, but after moving to the small town of Winter with her father, she learns more than she ever wanted to about power. When Anna meets Seth, she is smitten, but when she enchants him to love her, she unwittingly amplifies a deadly conflict between two witch clans and splits her own heart in two. She wants to love Seth, to let him love her—but if it is her magic that's controlling his passion, then she is as monstrous as the witch clan who are trying to use her amazing powers for their own gain. When love is tangled up in magic, how do you know what's real?"

The Morganville Vampires Series by Rachel Caine is a popular YA/NA book series. I have only read book one, Glass Houses, but I was very impressed and I definitely recommend it.
There are several different and beautiful versions of the book covers, but these are my favourites for sure! I am a sucker for gothic covers (pun intended) and these draw me in.

 The blurb:

"From the author of the popular Weather Warden series comes the debut of an exciting new series set in Morganville, Texas, where you would be well advised to avoid being out after dark.

College freshman Claire Danvers has had enough of her nightmarish dorm situation. When Claire heads off-campus, the imposing old house where she finds a room may not be much better. Her new roommates don't show many signs of life, but they'll have Claire's back when the town's deepest secrets come crawling out, hungry for fresh blood. Will she be able to face the town's terror or will she drown like everyone else?"

Beautiful Cover(s) of the Day!

The Dark Heart Trilogy by Lee Monroe is a paranormal romance containing werewolves and angels, amongst other supernatural creatures.  I may have only read the first book, but the 2nd is definitely on my to-read list. What drew me to this trilogy in the first place were the gorgeous covers! The contrast between the dresses and the background, along with the gothic element to them, makes these covers AMAZING!!!

The blurb:

"Jane Jonas is nearing her 16th birthday and troubled by unsettling recurring dreams where the same mysterious boy her age comes to her, telling Jane that they are each other's destiny. Her mother is becoming anxious about Jane's disruptive sleepwalking episodes, but for Jane her dream world and reality are about to collide."
